This course is given by prof. C. Waelkens every two years. It is given in 10 two-hour lectures and two/three exercise moments. The course text is 99 pages and available on Toledo, no slides or other media are used. In 2009-2010, chapter 4 was not to be studied. The examform changed a bit the last years, but the most recent exam (2009-2010) was a classic open book exam with written preparation and oral examination.

  • How would the laws of Kepler change if gravity was like r instead of 1r2. More general, how would it be if gravity was like rn?
  • Show that by studying the rotation of a planet, you can say something about the density distribution inside the planet. In this context, compare giant en telluric planets.
  • Research has shown that there are very little TNO's with a diameter from 10cm to 1m. Can you give an explanation for this?
